Simple Things, Vintage Stories: Antique Thread Spools

I really enjoy photographing simple vintage finds — the kind of everyday objects that have quietly aged over time. One of my absolute favourites? Old spools of thread. They might seem like small, ordinary things, but to me, they’re full of character.

Each little spool tells a little story. The textures of the worn wood, the fraying thread, the faded colours — And the old brand labels? Tiny works of art. Some are stamped with classic fonts, others have delicate gold foil details or charming logos that feel straight out of another era. Because they are!

What I love most is their quiet beauty. They don’t need much — no big setup or fancy styling. I usually keep the photos really simple: natural light, a wooden tabletop, maybe a linen cloth. It lets all those little details shine through. Just lovely little objects with a history.
